several imaginative and clever citizens of Newbury, a quintessential Vermont village, conceived an idea that would become a unified effort to attract the public to one large event. For all of the area non-profit organizations who needed a venue for fundraising and community outreach, the Cracker Barrel Bazaar was born. The Cracker Barrel Bazaar is currently a two-day event, starting with a chicken pie supper and Fiddlers Contest on Friday evening followed on Saturday by a small country village fair that is family-oriented and affordable for all. Best of all, the proceeds of the event are distributed among several worthy non-profit organizations to support their ongoing efforts to serve the community.
Today, as in 1951, the Cracker Barrel Bazaar provides an opportunity for: wholesome family fun; local non-profit organizations to raise money and community awareness; crafters to display and sell their wares; area performers to share their talents with an appreciative audience; adults and students to accrue volunteer hours in a carefree setting and; an opportunity to enjoy the scenic beauty of the area, both from the top of Mount Pulaski and aboard a river cruise along the Connecticut River.
